links

The Links are to the locations where a vast amount of information has been pulled. There is also links to websites that every paddler should know such as AW and ACA.  You can click on their logo to go to their webpage.

CBoats.net is the world's most popular on-line community of open and decked whitewater canoeists. There is a lot of information available on this site; the virtual whitewater canoe museum "See Boats", outfitting, repair, gear information, and video, not to mention the globally popular CForum.   The creators and admin of this site have spent countless hours researching canoes and C1s to create one of the largest databases still available today for the Canoeists and without them the Canoe/C1 database would not have half of the information it has.

Playak is an independent initiative by the nonprofit club 'Verein Playak' with the goal to be the worldwide paddling portal, in order to promote the growth of all paddling sports. It has massed a large database of information on kayaks and canoes as well and reviews and pictures.  Also used as a source to pull information for the database on many occasions.

Unsponsored is a UK based kayak site with a world wide reach that is a source of a vast amount of information to include paddling tips, tricks, news and gear reviews from an Unsponsored point of view.

TopKayaker.net is a great resource for Sit on Top Kayaks.  Described on their website as " THE MOST POPULAR TOP KAYAKER SITE ON THE WEB! Tom Holtey's Official Site: Promoting Safe, Skilled Kayaking from sea to shining sea since 1998,  Buy gear, Read Articles, Forums, Advice!"  They have put together a huge searchable database of all kinds of sit on top kayaks and is the leading website I have found on that style of kayaks.

Great website with a wealth of information to include the Sea /Touring database list on the Sea /Touring database tab.  Description as list on the website is "Purple Paddler,World of Paddling Paddling is a sport with something to suit everyone. Whether you are interested in cruising in a kayak, exploring by canoe, getting in shape on a SUP, hitting the rapids in a white water boat or trying your hand in competition you will find a wealth of information here to help you on your way."

No whitewater focused website would be complete without a link to this great organization who I am a proud member of.  American Whitewater is a national non-profit 501©(3) river conservation organization founded in 1954 with approximately 6,000 members and 100 local-based affiliate clubs, representing whitewater enthusiasts across the nation. American Whitewater’s mission is to protect and restore America’s whitewater rivers and to enhance opportunities to enjoy them safely. The organization is the primary advocate for the preservation and protection of whitewater rivers throughout the United States, and connects the interests of human-powered recreational river users with ecological and science-based data to achieve the goals within its mission.

Another link that a paddle sport website would not be complete without, and of course I'm also a proud member of.  Founded in 1880, the American Canoe Association (ACA) is a 501(c)(3) national nonprofit organization serving the broader paddling public by providing education related to all aspects of paddling; stewardship support to help protect paddling environments; and sanctioning of programs and events to promote paddlesport competition, exploration and recreation.

Skirtfit.com is an on-going, completely free and open attempt to catalogue every size kayak cockpit rim ever made.  This website is a great resource for trying to find which skirt will fit your kayak.  It includes the cockpit sizes of a majority of the whitewater and touring kayaks that were ever made and also includes a link to the major skirt manufactures size charts.
